35 Boats
This date marked the second event of the 2006 season as well as the second time F.O.C.A.S. has come to Lake of the Ozarks. They fielded a much better showing than last year with 35 boats making up the field. Fishing has been good and it has been taking big stringers to win in the area tournaments so expectations were high. It appeared that most of the contestants had a hard time with the day however. Only about half the field weighed fish on what turned out to be a nice day at least for the fishermen.
As always however
someone will arise to the occasion and the team of Rob Mondy of Hawk Point, MO
and Scott Provaznik of Fenton, MO were the team to be reckoned with today. They
fished around the mouth of Niangua and had 6 keepers across the day. They caught
fish well until about 9:00 and did not catch another fish until after 11:30 with
things picked up again for them. They caught their fish on jigs and found their
fish in water that was 8 feet or less. Their five fish sack weighed in at 15.12
pounds and earned them a check for $1197.00. They are sponsored by B & R
Outlaw Rods, Hawg Retriever Lures, and Osage Beach bait and
Tackle.

1ST PLACE TEAM-ROB MONDY AND SCOTT
PROVAZNIK
The 2nd Place team was
made up by Denis Dahlke of Bonner Springs, Kansas and Shannon Harrison of
Belton, MO. They caught their fish up the Osage and had 9 keepers across the day
but could not get a big fish to bite. Their best five fish lit up the display at
13.10 pounds. They caught one of their keepers on a spinner bait, 2 of them on
crank baits, and the rest of them on jigs. $798.00 for 2nd Place certainly
helped to make this a decent day for these two newcomers to the F.O.C.A.S.
circuit. They are sponsored by metro Supply of Olathe, Kansas but their major
sponsors and support comes from their wives Karen and Sarah.
2ND PLACE TEAM-SHANNON HARRISON AND
DENNIS DAHLKE
Repeating their 3rd Place position from last year for this event were the team of Jack Watkins of Belleville, IL and Frank Winkler of Bonne Terre, MO. They fished up towards the dam and the in the Gravois arm across the day. They also had a dead spot in the middle of the day as well. They had 4 keepers in the live well before 10:00 but could hardly get bit again until after 12:00. They caught their fish on D&L Baby Advantage Jigs and jerk baits. The culled once and their five best fish went 11.91 pounds. 3rd Place paid $399.00. Jack is sponsored by Leisure Time Pools of Swansea, Swansea, IL, B & R Outlaw Rods, Flying Fisherman Sun Glasses and Sportswear, Islamorada, FL, Scenic River Boats and Motors, Bonne Terre, MO, and Mid America Outdoors.com.

3RD PLACE TEAM-JACK WATKINS AND FRANK
WINKLER
The 4th Place team was last year’s winners Steve Odom of Granite City, IL and David Senderling also of Granite City, IL. They had 4 keepers which went 8.46 pounds. They caught one fish in the Glaize and the rest in Linn Creek. They caught one on a jig and the rest on crank baits. They cashed a check for $266.00.

4TH PLACE TEAM-DAVE SENDERLING AND STEVE
ODOM
First place Big Bass for the day was caught by the Father and Son Team of Anthony Balding and Tony Balding. It came in at 4.55 pounds and earned them a check for $210.00. They caught it early on an brown Eakins’ jig at about the 9 mile mark on the Niangua. It was in about a foot and a half of water and they saw it swirl when the jig hit the water.
