DRUMMS BRING IN A LIMIT
ON THE KASKASKIA
RIVER

Heavy rains and muddy
waters put the anglers to the test on the river for the F.O.C.A.S. August 20th
tournament. Passing that test was last years second place winners, father and
son team of Roland and Chad Drumm, both of Mascoutah, IL, as they came back this
year and took the First place honors. The only limit brought to the scale, with
a weight of 6.41 lbs. this father and son team took home $1,300.00. Using a
plastic bait that the team would not discuss, they caught fish all day. The
marina area brought them in two keepers and the rest of the stringer came from
the main river. They are sponsored by Belleville Sport Sales and Open Season
Sporting Goods, Belleville. Both of those businesses are also F.O.C.A.S.
sponsors.
Sixty-Six boats launched from the New Athens ramp at safe
light, but only 22 brought fish to the scale at the end of the very hot day and
the total weight was only 59.33 lbs.

Second place team with 6.14 lbs. was Tate Heinemann, from Red Bud and Dean Brand from Marissa. They caught their winning fish on black jigs. With seven fish caught, they ended up with three keepers and they put that last keeper in the boat at 11:00 a.m. They took home a check for $800.00 and another $390.00 for Big Bass which weighed in at 3.44 lbs. making their days pay $ 1,190.00 .

Sponsored by their wives, Dave Mueller of Shiloh, IL and Ken Volkerding
of Swansea, IL won the third place prize. With a weight of 4.444 lbs. they took
home to the wives a check for $ 650.00 . Catching their fish on spinner baits on
the main river, they hooked 8 fish through out the day and ended up with four
keepers.
Remaining places and payout are:

Fourth place: Father and son team, John and Don Phillips; 3,88 lbs, $500.00

Fifth place: Jim
Jenkins and Kevin Stark; 3.63 lbs., $350.00 also 2nd Big Bass 2.34 lbs.,
$260.00

Sixth place: Josh Blank and Derik
Owen; 3.51 lbs., $210.00
Seventh place: Nathan Keller and Bob Ehret; 3.10
lbs., $150.00.
F.O.C.A.S. always ends the tournament by feeding the anglers and this one was no different with a fish fry for all the anglers and their families.
F.O.C.A.S. is nearing the end of its 2005 season with only two tournaments left on the schedule. Remaining Missouri Lake will be Wappello on August 27th and on September 17th we will be at Lake Springfield.
Those who have fished four tournaments qualify for the Classic which will be held on September 30th-October 1st at Lake Barkley. This two day tournie will be very exciting. Come on down and support your angler and check out the booths at the show. Watch for results in the October issue of Adventure Sports Outdoors. F.O.C.A.S staff wants to thank them for the great coverage we have gotten all year long.
