2003 Ohio River
Phillips & Boss win F.O.C.A.S. Ohio River Tournament
Fifty-three boats launched on July
12th at Golconda Marina for the 5th Federation of Christian Anglers and
Sportsmen tournament of the season. Weigh-in at 2:00 brought 41 teams with 160
fish for a total of 227.13lbs. of bass.
Curtis Phillips and Adam Boss took First Place honors with 9.98 lbs.
and
earned a check
for $1,240.20. They also took First Big Bass for another
$318.00 and a
Wizard Rod with a weight of 3.71 bringing their days total to
$1,558.20. They
report fishing the Bayou , using salt crawl and spinner baits and
catching their
last fish of their limit by 10:00 a.m.
Second Place went to the team of Todd Taylor and Scott Scheich for a
total check of
$731.40 and a weight of 9.73 lbs. They are sponsored by Taylor
Marine
Performance Center, Belleville. Fishing in 3-5 ft. of water using Black
and Blue jigs
they report catching 17 keepers throughout the day.
The team of John Alesaski and John King won Third Place with 8.53
lbs.
and earning a
check for $540.00. Their 3.34 lb. bass won them Second Big Bass
and $212.00
making their days pay a total of $752.60. They report fishing
Lusk Creek for
their limit and using Brush Hawg spinnerbaits and
Senkoworms.
Fourth place was awarded to John Winkelman and his four year old
grandson, Alec
Rebbe with 8.27 lbs. and a pay out of $318.00.
The team of Richard Byrnes and Steve Garner won Fifth place with
8.14 lbs. and earned $222.60.
Sixth place went to the team of Steve Cowan and Kyle Garner
for $129.60 for 8.09
lbs. of
fish.
As usual, F.O.C.A.S. fed the hungry anglers as they returned to the
weigh in. Two husband/wife teams and eight angler/youth teams fished with us
this tournament.
Our next tournament will be 08-23 on the Kaskaskia River.
Pre-tournament will be 08-22 at 7:30 p.m. and launch will be 6:00 a.m. from New
