2003 Carlyle Lake

F.O.C.A.S. Carlyle Lake Tournament won by team of McFetridge/McFetridge

The thick fog delayed the 6:00 a.m. take off time until 7:45 a.m. on Saturday, June 7th. FIfty-two boats launched with 39 weighing in a total of 214.77 pounds of fish at the end of the day.

The winning team of brothers, McFetridge brought in a limit with a total weight of 15.85 lbs. Their 6.63 lunker also brought them First Big Bass for the day. Using fire tiger and chartreuse crankbaits they caught their first around 11:00 and last one 10 minutes before check in. They are sponsored by Tri State Trolling Motor Repair and Bass World Sports. Pay day for them was $1,404 for first place and $360 for Big Bass for a total of $1,764.00 for the day. First Big Bass winners are also awarded a $160 Wizard Rod, a F.O.C.A.S. sponsor.

Father and son team, Randy Duke Jr. and Sr. took Second Place honors for a total of 11.55 lbs. and a check for $828.00, and another $240 for Second Big Bass weighing 5.98lbs. Their total for the day was $1.068.00. They report flipping jigs all day about the middle of the lake.

Another father and son team, Jim and 12 year old Josh Jenkins won third place with a weight of 10.71lbs. and took home a $612 check. Fishing the rocks to catch one of their limit, they then went up above the tracks for the remainder of the day. They report catching about 30 fish all day on Brush Hawg Spinner Baits. They are sponsored by Brush Hawg, Wizard Rods, Tom's Building and Repair and The Boat Place.

Fourth place with 10.54 lbs. was the team of Kevin Woker and Mike Anderson for $360.

Fifth place team of Larry Deutschmann and Ken Buman won $252 for 9.48 lbs.

Dave Mahlandt and Jerry Williams earned $144 for sixth place weight of 9.14.

For those of you who follow our pay outs and stats, you will notice that we were generous this time with the pay out. Human error on our part had the pay out figured for 60 boats instead of 52, so those of you who placed this time were blessed beyond the usual 80% pay back.

Four husband and wife teams and ten father and youth teams fished this tournament. F.O.C.A.S. encourages fishing with your spouse or child. The Angler of the Year race has been divided this year and will be won by a Partner/Partner and a Spouse or Youth team.

Our next tournament will be on the Ohio River on July 12th. We will have the pre tournament meeting at the Golconda launch site at 7:30 p.m. on July 11th and launch is Saturday morning at 6:00 a.m.
