2003 Rend Lake


With a concern for the weather, Sixty boats launched from Sail Boat Harbor on May 17th. As the day progressed the storms missed the tournament and only a slight mist was present during the weigh in at 2:00.
Twenty-three boats weighed fish with at total weight of 99.94 pounds of bass. There were 42 fish caught with two limits.



First Place honors went to the team of Mike and Kyle Radake with 11.27 pounds of fish which earned them a check for $1,404.00. They report consistent fishing in isolated areas and leafy bushes in about 3-4 feet of water using green pumpkin zoom worms. This father and son team is sponsored by Foutz's Fishing Shop in Cape Girardeau.



Second place was won by the team of Richard and Rick Byrnes who took home $828.00. They report pitching Competitive Edge spinnerbaits in bushes all day in about 4-5 feet of water. They bounced bait off wood and weighed in 10.86 pounds at the end of the day. This team is sponsored by Competitive Edge Spinnerbaits, Solar Bat, Wayne's Props and Cope Marine.



The team of Matt Crain and Russell Harris weighed 5.68 lbs. for third place and second Big Bass with a weight of 4.13lbs. Third place earned them $612.00 and with $240.00 for Big Bass, they took home $852.00 They fished shallow water using black/blue/purple jigs and white tubes. They report flipping miles, miles and miles of bushes. They are sponsored by Cotton Mouth Jigs, Lunker Lure and Clean Cut Lawn Care.


Fourth place honors went to the team of Shannon Steibel and Tait Heinneman.



Fifth place was won by the team of Todd Taylor and Scott Scheich.



Sixth went to the father and son team of Rev. David Harbison and nine year old John.


First Big Bass was won by the team of Daniel Deutchmann and Jacob Scanlon with a weight of 5.07. Besides a check for$360.00 they took home a $160.00 Wizard Rod.
