Twenty five boats launched at Washington Co. Lake near
Nashville at 6:00 a.m. on October 5, 2002 for the Federation of Christian
Anglers and Sportsmen's 2002 Classic. While the anglers fished all day, the
second day of the Outdoor Show at Eckert's in Belleville was being held.
F.O.C.A.S. marine sponsors were present with their craft for a year end boat show
and sale. Other sponsors and business' had their product available for sale in
the tent. This free event to the community offered a fish pond full of blue gill
and cat fish, a paint ball shoot and archery shoot for the kids. The kids
received "Fishin' Bucks" at each activity which they cashed in for prizes at the
A Glorious Church Fellowship booth in the tent. Also present in the booth were
clowns who gave out balloon animals and painted faces through out the weekend.

FREE activities for the kids
While
waiting to officiate the weigh in at 3:30, B.A.S.S. Pro's Shaw Grigsby, Jay
Yelas and Mark Rose were available all day for autographs and seminars. But you
were most likely to find these great anglers around the fishing pond spending
time fishing with the kids. All three spoke during the event to the crowd of
anglers and told of their love for fishing, but they let everyone present know
that their greatest love is for their God and they attribute their success to
Him. They spoke of their faith, fishing and family.
As the anglers
arrived for the weigh in, they were driven through the tent in their boats and
stepped out onto the stage with their catch to be greeted by the Pros who
interviewed them on their day on the water and weighed their catch. Twelve boats
weighed fish with a total of 33.52 pounds of fish.

First place and
First Big Bass goes to the team of Larry Zinn and Kevin White of Millstadt with
6.94 lbs. of fish. They earned a check for $3, 000.00 for First Place $300.00
for Big Bass and they will also receive a fiber glass reproduction of their Big
Bass, which will be completed by Dennis Isbill, Fish & Things, of
Belleville, IL. Second Place went to the father and son team of Tony and A J
Balding with 5.07 lbs. of fish and a check for $1,000.00. Another father son
team won third place, earning the team of Bryan and Fred Hubler a check for $500
for 4.29 lbs. Fouth place, won by Alan Schaefer and Ron Dill for 3.65 lbs. of
fish earned them $300.00. They also won Second BIg Bass for $200.00 with a
weight of 3.65 lbs. Fifth place, won by father and son team of Jim Jenkins and
11 year old Josh Jenkins earned them $200.00 for a weight of 2.10 lbs. of fish.

F.O.C.A.S.
encourages fishing with a spouse or child, age 6-17 which earns points toward
the Angler of the Year award. There were two husband and wife teams and two
father and young child teams entered in the Classic. Angler of the Year awards
were presented with Father and son team of Rev. David Harbison and his 9 year
old son John earning First Place Angler of the Year for 2002. Second place went
to husband and wife team of George and Marty Fudge and Third Place awarded to
husband and wife team of Cleo and Vanessa Roy.
F.O.C.A.S. wants to
thank all who participated in and those who attended this years Classic and
Outdoor Show. We are looking forward to our 2003 trail with great sponsors and
great anglers who fish our tournament trail. Watch for our 2003 schedule and
come be a part of 2003 tournaments. F.O.C.A.S. is always looking for quality
